My apologies to RSS subscribers, who were left with the old site feed and inoperable links as a result of my less-than-perfect transition to the new host. I believe I have cleared up the RSS issue and the original Feedburner feed should now work (though you my have to clear your cache). Let me know if any other problems creep up. Thanks.

After 22 months of using blogger, I switched to wordpress over the holiday break. My domain host is switching nameservers now and the change should be completed shortly. Please bear with me. I don’t think there will be any significant disruption, and the feed has not changed. Some permalinks inside posts may point to the old blogger versions, but should still function.
Primarily, I did this to take advantage of my own domain — microcapspeculator.net. I tried Blogger Custom Domains, but that has serious drawbacks. First, it only works with “www.microcapspeculator.net” not “http://microcapspeculator.net,” the easiest way to type in the name. Second, while the blogger platform is very easy to use, wordpress is much more powerful with only slightly more complexity. As an added bonus, I was able to integrate additional features like stock quotes.
Wordpress is an amazing piece of open source software. Fast, flexible, and easy enough for someone (like me) with no programming skills to work with. I’d like to give a very public thanks to the wordpress crew, to Derek Punsalan of 5thirtyone.com, who designed the theme used here, and to Andy at Hillhome.org, who wrote the stock quote plugins.

I have moved the site to the new URL, www.microcapspeculator.net. Note that you need the www. This is due to the way that Blogger Custom Domain works. If you want to keep using the old URL, you can. Blogger will automatically forward to www.microcapspeculator.net.
As I understand it, no changes were necessary to the feed. I’ll do my best to update any backlinks.
Please let me know if you are having any problems with either RSS or email feeds.

The vote was an overwhelming 19-2 for moving to a non-blogspot domain, which represents a 100% turnout of my twenty-one readers. I made the shift a few hours ago, using Blogger Custom Domains. I’ll do everything possible to make the transition smooth. The old domain should forward and I’ll try to get the feeds to resolve automatically. If you have any problems please let me know.
UPDATE: It worked great…for about a half hour, then everything went kaput. I’m back on blogspot for now and will let everyone know when the change is properly made.
